Dear Seeker of Knowledge,
Every journey of learning begins with intention – and a little bit of planning. As a student, it’s easy to get caught in the cycle of consuming without clarity or preparing without purpose. But what if you paused, took a breath, and aligned your efforts with what truly matters?
One of the biggest traps for students isn’t laziness, it’s overwhelm. The fear that you won’t grasp everything sometimes leads you to grasp nothing at all. But don’t let that paralyze you.
Here are a few grounding tips to help you stay focused, inspired, and consistent on your path of learning:
𝗘𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺
A clear path keeps you grounded and progressing.
Whether it’s a physical Madrasah or an online platform, structure makes accountability and progress tracking easy.
𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁:
Knowledge without softness can harden the soul. Embrace Tazkiyah(purification of your soul) and let the works of scholars like Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Al-Qayyim purify your heart. Remember, the Prophet (ﷺ) was sent to purify hearts, not just fill minds.
𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗳𝘀ī𝗿:
The Qur’an is your ultimate guide but how well do you know it? If your madrasah subjects don’t include Tafsīr, seek it out. “Knowledge is that which is practiced, not just memorized.”
𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲
YouTube is full of gems—free explanations of key texts from Al-Ajrumiyyah to Fathul-Majid are at your fingertips, especially on the AMAU Academy YouTube channel. If there’s a book you’re studying in Madrasah, expand your understanding.
𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲-𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘀.
Experiment with time-blocking, the Pomodoro technique, or whatever suits you. You’ll find your rhythm only by trying.
It 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱, 𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀t
Let me share with you a summary of what I told my sister this morning: You just have to try. If you watch one video a day, that’s 365 videos in a year.
Let me expand: Taking notes and sitting through the classes may seem tedious, but think of where those small, daily efforts will lead you to in three years or five or ten.
Moreover, the scholars say that: “Knowledge is not attained through the relaxation of the body.”
Always begin your journey of seeking knowledge with a sincere intention – not for praise, status, or argument, but for the sake of Allah, to grow closer to Him, and to benefit His creation. Knowledge without action is like a tree without fruit. So as you learn, make a quiet, honest commitment to apply what you gain, even in small ways. With every pure intention and every sincere effort to practice what you know, your knowledge becomes light, your path becomes clearer, and your heart draws nearer to the One who taught mankind what they did not know.
