Content & Editorial Lead
Job Description
Vacancy Announcement
Al-‘Aabidaat is looking for a Content & Editorial Lead to join our growing Content & Social Team.
This is a hands-on role for someone who loves turning knowledge into useful, engaging, and well-structured content. You will work with our existing library of classes, lectures, scholars’ works, articles, and educational materials to build a consistent pipeline of content for our website, social media platforms, WhatsApp communities, and digital publications.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer and researcher who can recognise a valuable idea in a two-hour lecture, a page of a scholar’s book, or a question from a class and turn it into content people will actually want to read, save, share, and learn from.
What you will do
- Lead Al-‘Aabidaat’s editorial and written-content strategy.
- Research and write articles, educational pieces, social media content, and digital publications.
- Extract beneficial material, fataawaa (Islamic legal rulings), explanations, and lessons from approved works of scholars.
- Develop ebooks and other digital publications from existing organisational content.
- Build and maintain a structured library of source materials and extracted content.
- Prepare content briefs for the video, design, and social media members of the team.
- Edit and quality-check written content before publication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies, Law, Humanities, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of Islamic studies and familiarity with classical and contemporary Islamic literature.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in writing, editorial work, research, content development, publishing, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to research, synthesise information, and produce clear written content.
- Experience working with educational, Islamic, nonprofit, media, or community organisations is an advantage.
- Experience developing ebooks, articles, educational resources, or similar publications is an advantage.
Skills we're looking for
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Strong research and information-synthesis skills.
- Ability to read and understand scholarly material carefully.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly when handling scholarly quotations and source material.
- Strong editorial judgement: knowing what is worth turning into content and what is not.
- Ability to simplify complex ideas without distorting them.
- Strong organisation and content-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple content projects.
- Good understanding of social media content formats and audience behaviour.
- Ability to work collaboratively with designers, video producers, and social media managers.
- Strong command of English. Arabic reading ability is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Google/Zoho Workspace, Notion, Canva, WordPress, or similar content-management tools is an advantage.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for someone who can take a large body of knowledge and see the possibilities within it.
You should be curious, organised, intellectually careful, and comfortable working with both scholarly material and modern digital content. You should enjoy writing, but also enjoy the process behind good writing: reading, researching, extracting, organising, editing, and deciding what deserves to be developed.
You do not need to be a social media influencer. We are looking for a strong content thinker and writer who understands how knowledge can be transformed into meaningful digital content.
What you'll be part of
You will be one of four members of Al-‘Aabidaat’s Content & Social Team, working alongside:
- Multimedia & Short-Form Video Producer
- Social Media & Community Manager
- Content Designer & Creative Producer
Together, the team will grow Al-‘Aabidaat’s presence across Facebook, Instagram, X, and WhatsApp while building a lasting library of articles, educational resources, ebooks, videos, and other beneficial ctent.
